Maybe it’s my advanced age that (partly) inspires this hypothesis but: in my view our general sense of wellbeing is highly correlated to the level at which we experience human scale.
Human scale gives us clarity, predictability and meaning. When we operate within this scale our intuition is a reliable source of information. The more we loose this connection the more we loose a reliable compass when navigating our life. Resulting in thoughts and actions that are increasingly lacking humanity. Thereby weakening our connection with ourselves, each other and our environment.
Although each step in itself might seem harmless (and even beneficial) the overall direction we are moving into when embracing ‘artificial intelligence’ is, as I see it now, due to its nature one of decreasing human scale.
If so, how must we then relate to this development. For now my inclination is towards investing in ‘human’ dimensions: by strengthening our minds, bodies, primary skills, relationships and communities. And seeking activities in and around our primary needs: healthy food, clean water, clean air, sufficient rest, basic safety, basic shelter, healthy communities etc.
