Small invitations

Throughout the day I receive small pointers. Small but clear invitations to pause and reconnect to a more wholesome basis and start again from there.

Ao when I become aware of …

  • expressing a small exaggeration
  • keeping my shoulders up
  • holding my breath
  • expressing a small lie
  • seeking distraction
  • falling into a repetitive thought
  • a small judgement
  • seeking anesthesia (coffee, alcohol, YouTube, ..)
  • the urge to buy something
  • small incidents (spoiling coffee, whilst driving, ..)
  • not hearing the birds sing
  • the urge of eating something
  • complaining about something
  • short breathing (high up)
  • etc..

When aware of those little ‘escapes’ and able to pause for a moment before moving into them often result in a small confrontation with something that is hindering my being present. In that moment I have a choice between avoidance and acceptance. Although not always pleasant I never regret the latter (not that I always do).
